Church Fact Sheet

St. CUTHBERT'S CHURCH

St. Cuthbert's Church, Market Place.

Denomination: Anglican

St Cuthbert's church is in the centre of the Darlington right next to the market place – it can be seen from quite a distance and is used regularly as an icon of the town. The Church building dates from 1180 although the site has been the focus of Christian Worship and witness for over a thousand years.

Today St Cuthbert's congregation is made up of people living throughout the town, many who are drawn by the traditional worship and our choral tradition. Our fine organ is put to use every Sunday at our services of Sung Eucharist and Evensong. However the church is also open for less formal services throughout the week, while during the summer months our doors are open daily from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm to a constant stream of visitors.

We seek to serve our parish and the community of the town centre wherever we can, including Peace walks, Mayoral services and prayers for our local businesses.

We seek to extend a warm welcome to everyone who steps through our very large West Door. We’d love to meet you, so why not pay us a visit?
