The parish of St. Augustine was formally established in 1783. The church was opened in 1827 and the priest was Fr. William Hogarth. The church was extended by him in 1865, while he was the first bishop of Hexham and Newcastle.

The church is the focus for a large worshipping community and when it was re-ordered several items were commissioned by Fenwick Lawson, i.e. ambo, lectern, main altar.

The church is involved in many activities within the community, SVP, Sunday Stop, Luncheon Club, Cafod. Please check our website for further information.

Monday 12.15pm: Mass, followed by exposition and quiet prayer till 3pm
Tuesday 12.15pm: Eucharistic Service

Friday 7.00pm: Mass
Saturday 10.00am: Mass, followed by Confessions
