About ourselves

Our site is produced by Churches Together in Darlington (CTiD), an informal body that aims to co-ordinate matters of common interest and concern to Christians living within the Borough of Darlington. Exchanging information is part of that work, but CTiD also looks to initiating social and other action within the local community.

The 'prayer in action' side of the work of CTiD will continue (and you will find information about it within these pages), but most of the information exchange will now take place more quickly and efficiently by means of this site. If you would like to get a message to CTiD, you can email them at grbc@lineone.net or you can use the Contact Us’ page on our site and we will pass the message on.

We chose the "The Church in Darlington" name, rather than using the word 'Churches', because we are one in Christ. As a church:

• only occasionally do we worship together, as usually we prefer different styles of worship within our particular buildings;
• rather more often we work together, commonly in local groups, but sometimes as one body throughout the Borough;
• always we unite together in declaring the Christian belief in Father, Son and Holy Spirit, looking to Jesus as our Saviour.

We have three main aims for our site:

1. To provide information about church services to visitors;

2. To give Darlington residents an insight into the church that serves their community, hoping that it might excite interest in what we are and do;

3. To enable all local Christians to keep up to date with what is going on within our church.

Our thanks go to:

• Stoker Wilson and Bob Jones, whose expertise got us thinking about a site and who persuaded us that we could do it
• John Keeble, who designed the basic site and its layout for us
• Stoker again for his continuing role as adviser and fixer when things go wrong
• the small band of people who maintain various pages on the site.

Finally, if you think you might be interested in joining those volunteers who help keep the site pages up to date, then do get in touch. You need only do a very little, so long  as you are willing to do it regularly.
