Churches Together in Darlington (CTiD) is an informal body, whose aims (according to the CTiD Constitution) are
to initiate, encourage and develop co-operation and understanding between the Christian Churches in Darlington and
to enable the Christian Churches to bear a more effective witness in the community and to serve it more effectively.
In pursuing its aims, CTiD looks to:
enabling the local churches to communicate effectively with each other and this web site is the main, current
means of such communication;
maintaining ecumenical links across the North East, via North East Christian Churches Together (NEECT). The
CTiD chairman is on the Council of NEECT;
encouraging social action and other projects by the local churches. The most recent initiative has been with
the town's Credit Unions. CTiD is beginning to explore the provision of emergency accommodation for those who
can find no other bed for the night.
The majority, but not all, of the Darlington churches belong to CTiD. Other Christian organisations, such as
the Town Mission and the YMCA, are members as well. CTiD operates through an Executive, which meets regularly throughout
the year. There is also an AGM.
